Canara Pre-University college was started in 1972 and provides education to both boys & girls without any distinction of caste creed or religion. The college provides Two – Year Pre university Education in Commerce (BSBA, BEBA, CSBA, SEBA & HEBA) & Science (PCMB, PCMC, PCME, PCMS).
The college makes every attempt to provide an environment in which every student discovers and realizes his full potential. The college lays emphasis not only on the development of intellect, but also on character building and discipline so that the students turn out to be worthy individuals and realize their goals in this competitive world. The college has a well laid out spacious campus in the heart of the city. The Laboratories, Library and Reading Room are well equipped and up-to-date. Canteen facility is also available in the campus.
The college aims at overall personality development of its students and lays stress on the development of soft skills of every student. Every student is encouraged to join one of the many co-curricular activities that are available in the college. We recognize, award and honour all students who excel in extra / co-curricular activities.

Canara Institutions have been in the forefront of providing Quality education for last more than a century following the guiding principle of our visionary founder, Sri Ammembal Subba Rao Pai which is to provide “Quality Education at Affordable cost”. Canara Pre-University College has been carrying this mission forward for last 5 decades since its inception in 1972 of providing best of education to students pursing the professional fields of their choice both in Science & Commerce Stream.
Canara has always been recognised for academic excellence with its students getting Ranks at State Level since its inception & in 50 years of our existence, I can say we have got a rank almost every year on an average. At the same time, we also believe that extra-curricular activities are equally important & have many clubs in areas of literature, music, sports etc for all round development of all our students
Canara PU College has got into association with Allen Career Institute to provide in-house guidance & training of IIT-JEE (Mains + Advance)/NEET/ CET entrance exams for aspirants from the Science stream. We also have a inhouse training for our commerce students appearing for CA Foundation exam with more than 50% students passing the exams.
Our endeavour is to make our campuses conducive for better learning & a place for overall development of our students. It is our responsibility to see that our students also inculcate good values, character & develop positive attitude so that they are ready to face future challenges in career & life.
While we have a wonderful set of teachers to whom we are thankful for maintaining high standard of education by constantly upgrading themselves, our management has been progressive enough to take advice from our illustrious Alumni, Industry leaders to see that Canara is always at the forefront of providing education relevant for the times. The world today, unlike the past, is ever changing, distance is dying and barriers are becoming thin and nonexistent. Even in the field of education there exists global competition. In such a scenario the Management and Staff of our institution have tried to develop balanced personalities of the students who are culturally refined, emotionally stable, ethically oriented, intellectually alert, socially responsible, spiritually upright and physically strong.
We pray to the Almighty to give us the strength to enrich the path laid down by our noble Founder in serving the student community at large.

I am pleased to share my views through these few words. Having spent three decades in this noble profession, I feel blessed that I have had the opportunity to serve the society. Life has a series of challenges but the individual should learn the skill of retaining faith, have trust, adopt the right attitude and be grateful. This will definitely open new doors. Academic excellence should be complemented by extracurricular activities. This enables an individual feel complete.
At CANARA we take personal interest in monitoring the academic progress of the students alongside ensuring personality development. We consider it our prime duty to groom the students to be successful in life and at the same time we encourage them to develop traits that get them the recognition of being a good human being.
